Dear families,
A huge thank you to all the dads who managed to join us for the Father’s Day breakfast this week. We know how busy everyone is so it was great to see so many faces attending breakfast and enjoying a bacon and egg roll. The kids absolutely loved having you there. Thank you also to our 3-4 Pod teachers for organising a wonderful mass to celebrate Father’s day. I hope that all the dad’s, step-dads, grandads and all the special men in the lives of the children in our school have a great day on Sunday. I am excited to be celebrating my first Father’s Day as a dad, although I’m not sure August will be cooking me bacon and eggs for breakfast just yet.
Yesterday we had three grade 3-4 Hoop Time teams competing against other schools in the area. Our girls team won and both the boys and mixed team made it to the semi finals. Thank you to Mrs Burgiel and Mr Sandeman for taking time out of their days to train the 3-4 and 5-6 teams and coaching them at the tournament. I have watched the teams improve over the last few weeks and this couldn’t be achieved without the dedication of our staff. It has been great to see the children in the teams working hard to learn from their coaches. Good luck to our 5-6 teams next week.
Next week is National Child Safety Week and as a part of this our children will be participating in Australia’s Biggest Child Safety Lesson (ABCSL) on Tuesday. Building on what students learnt in 2023 about consent, ABCSL 2024 will provide an easy way for teachers, parents and carers to have conversations about enthusiastic and affirmative consent confidently with children. FREE ready-made resources and lessons will explore how to recognise, react and report and practice strategies to use to receive or deny consent affirmatively. For more information on the lessons, please see https://danielmorcombe.com.au/keeping-kids-safe/keeping-kids-safe/australias-biggest-child-safety-lesson/
Please have a great weekend with your families.
Kind regards,
Julian

To celebrate student's achievements, we will be presenting children with Star Of The Week awards. This is a self nominated award of something a student is proud of. It could be something academic, sports related, or a personal achievement. Have you learnt to ride a bike? Won 1st place in a dance competition? Read a book by yourself? Anything that makes you proud!
Forms can be found on the link below.
Wow!! Thank you to all the students and parents for their efforts with costumes at our annual Book Week parade. It was wonderful to see so many parents and friends from our community come and support students at our parade.
