Dear Parents and Guardians,
I would first like to thank the entire school community for how welcome I have felt in my first week in this new role. Walking into the school on my first day, I was blown away by how kind and enthusiastic the children were as they greeted me as they came back from holidays. That same enthusiasm can be seen through the learning taking place in each classroom as I walk around the school. It is fantastic to hear the buzz of learning and see the children so engaged. I must congratulate our wonderful staff for their dedication and passion toward the students and their learning which has allowed the children to continue to thrive. This is particularly impressive considering the changes in leadership which have taken place this year and I thank our staff for their continued commitment to the education of our students to allow such amazing learning to continue.
It has been great to be able to meet parents, guardians and families in the mornings and afternoons. Again, you have all made me feel very welcome and part of the St Mary’s community so I thank you. I encourage families to come into the school grounds in the mornings and afternoons. Please keep your eye out for some activities and events this term where we will welcome families into the school to meet and celebrate as a community.
Again, I welcome Bec Stobie to the role of PE Teacher and Sports Coordinator. It was great seeing the students running around, smiling and learning with Bec this week.
I wish all our community a great weekend and am looking forward to a great Term 3!
Kind regards,
Julian Blackford

23rd June ~ Maddie Nicolaci
Congratulations to Maddi who uses her skills of initiative and motivation with learning. She loves to learn, dedicating her time at home to reading and doing maths sums.
Maddie has shown amazing progress in her learning through her didication, focus and motivation. What fun you will have Maddie with your adventures into different books and great things you will learn with your expanding maths skills.
Well done Maddie!!
15th July ~ Alexa Potter
Congratulations to Alexa who demonstrated how her hard work and perserverance paid off when she progressed to SSV Wellington Division at Yarram for cross country. Her grit and effort paid off, earning her 8th position in this race. This also enabled her to progress to the Gippsland Region cross country held at Warragul.
Well done Alexa!!
To celebrate student's achievements, we will be presenting children with Star Of The Week awards. This is a self nominated award of something a student is proud of. It could be something academic, sports related, or a personal achievement. Have you learnt to ride a bike? Won 1st place in a dance competition? Read a book by yourself? Anything that makes you proud!
Forms can be found on the link below.
Congratulations to Ella Higgins who competed in the SSV state final yesterday for cross country. This year saw the final held at Yarra Glen for the first time. Conditions were extremely cold as well as wet and muddy underfoot. Ella competed amongst a field of 100 girls from around Victoria. She has done herself and St Mary's exeptionally proud!
