Principals Message

Dear Families,

Next week, our school community will come together to observe National Reconciliation Week (27 May – 3 June), a time for all Australians to reflect on our shared histories and work towards a more united and respectful future.

Reconciliation Week is an opportunity to learn about and honour the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples—the First Peoples of our nation. The dates mark two significant milestones: the 1967 referendum and the 1992 Mabo decision, both important steps on Australia’s journey towards reconciliation.

As a Catholic school, we are guided by Gospel values of justice, compassion, and love for all. In this spirit, we are committed to deepening our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and walking together in truth and respect.

Next week, students will participate in a range of learning activities focused on Indigenous culture, including traditional stories, art, language, and history. These experiences aim to foster respect, awareness, and a deeper connection with the oldest continuous cultures on earth.

If you have any questions about Reconciliation Week please reach out to me. I encourage you to talk to your children about what they learn in class.

Have a great weekend.

Kind regards,

Julian
